Den Sociale Kapitalfond is a purpose-driven development organisation that works to reconcile social and business success in ever more and new ways and in collaboration with an increasing number of new partners. Den Sociale Kapitalfond consists of several legal entities that manage funds and mandates from several different donors, collaborators and investors targeted several complementary efforts – all for the pursuit of the same overall mission, and under the common brand, 'Den Sociale Kapitalfond'.

The fund Board of Den Sociale Kapitalfond

 Den Sociale Kapitalfond is a commercial fund with catalytic focus. The fund acts as an investment unit, and it is the Board of directors of the commercial fund that approves the concrete investments and social innovation projects for which Den Sociale Kapitalfond makes funds available.

The commercial foundation Den Sociale Kapitalfond was founded in 2011 by Trygfonden on the initiative of Lars Jannick Johansen.

Den Sociale Kapitalfond Management

The Social Private Equity Fund Management is partly the management company of the commercial fund and partly a concrete operator for other actors who make funds directly available within the entire organisation's purposes.

Den Sociale Kapitalfond Management is the development unit for the further development of the entire organization Den Sociale Kapitalfond and draws the entire organization and the commercial fund to the outside world.

Den Sociale Kapitalfond Management was established in 2011 by Lars Jannick Johansen.

The partner group behind the company, which consists of founder Lars Jannick Johansen, leading partners Birgitte Frost Mathiesen, Birger Møllevang and Thomas Bagge Olesen - as well as the employees in general - has endorsed the overall goal of the company defined in a Partner Manifesto. The partners and employees are driven by the desire to make a social difference and live up to the company's purpose of reconnecting social and business success in ever more and new ways with more and more partners. No dividends are paid from the company and any profits are used to reinforce the company's purpose, as laid down in the articles of association.

Why this organization?

This organisation is a socio-economic equivalent of traditional private equity funds with a management company carrying out the activities and a fund providing funds. The organization will enable the company to establish cooperation with other social investors, foundations and partners, with the aim of establishing development activities and foundations and thus supporting a common mission to develop, test and scale new solutions that unite social and business success and create new opportunities for marginalized people.

Solutions scaled to new separate devices

The idea behind the organization is that the most successful solutions are scaled on a sustainable economic basis in new separate entities and as own financial products in which both the management company and the fund can co-invest. This creates greater social impact while ensuring an economic return to finance new development activities.

Since its foundation in 2011, the activities of the fund and management company have continuously developed in line with the overall purpose, so that the management company today conducts a number of development and investment activities, partly for the commercial fund Den Sociale Kapitalfond and partly for other partners.

Thus, in 2017, the management company and the fund were behind the establishment of Den Sociale Kapitalfond Invest I K/S and Den Sociale Kapitalfond Invest Management ApS, whom the fund and management are respectively co-investors and co-owners of with the aim of scaling the results of the Fund's development work on social enterprise investments in cooperation with a wider range of investors; Den Sociale Kapitalfond Invest Management ApS is partner driven as a socio-economic partnership and is owned by respectively Lars Jannick Johansen, Mads Aaen og Torben Agerup together with Den Sociale Kapitalfond Management.
